Plain language, because terms nobody reads protect nobody. If anything here is unclear, ask us before you buy rather than after.
What this service is
RelaxedFlyer is a flight search tool for people who find flying uncomfortable. It reads published airline departure boards and public weather forecasts, and it ranks scheduled flights by how smooth the air along the route is expected to be.
What this service is not
We are not a travel agent, an airline, or a ticket seller. We do not take bookings, hold reservations, or sell seats. When you choose a flight we send you to the airline's own website, and everything from that point — the fare, the ticket, the contract of carriage, changes, cancellations, refunds and baggage — is between you and that airline.
We do not show fares. A departure board carries schedules, not prices.
About the turbulence ranking
The ranking is a forecast, and forecasts are wrong sometimes. A flight we called smooth can be bumpy, and a flight we ranked poorly can be glass. We show you what the atmospheric models say and how confident that is; we do not promise what your flight will feel like, and we cannot.
Turbulence is a comfort problem rather than a safety one. Aircraft are built and certified far beyond anything they meet in normal service. Nothing on this site should be read as a safety rating of any flight, aircraft, airline or route, and nothing here is a reason to take or avoid a particular flight for safety reasons.
This service is not medical advice. If fear of flying is seriously affecting your life, a doctor or a therapist who treats anxiety disorders can help in ways a search engine cannot.
Your account
You need an account to search. We sign you in by emailing a one-time link, so there is no password. Keep access to your email address secure — anyone who can read your inbox can sign in as you.
An account is for one person. Do not share your sign-in link. We may suspend an account being used by many people at once, or one being used to scrape the service automatically.
You must be 18 or older to hold an account.
Membership and payment
Membership is $14.95 a month or $99.95 a year. New members pay $9.99 for their first 30 days on the monthly plan, and $14.95 a month after that. Prices are in US dollars and exclude any tax that may apply where you live.
Payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Your membership renews automatically until you cancel, and you can cancel at any time from your account page in one click. See refunds for what happens to money already paid.
We may change prices. If we do, we will tell you by email before it affects you, and you can cancel before the new price applies.
Acceptable use
Do not scrape, resell, or redistribute what this service produces. Do not try to break, overload, or get around the paywall. Do not use the service to do anything illegal. The underlying data comes from providers with their own terms, and bulk extraction puts our access to it at risk.
Availability
We do our best to keep this running, but we do not promise it will always be available. The service depends on outside providers — departure board and weather feeds — and when one of them is down or has hit its daily limit, we say so plainly and show you less rather than making something up.
Ending things
You can close your account at any time by cancelling and asking us to delete it. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and if we do without good cause we will refund the unused part of what you paid.
Liability
The service is provided as it is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for missed flights, travel costs, changed plans, or any other loss arising from using this service or relying on its rankings. Our total liability to you is limited to what you have paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we will email members before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version.
Who you are dealing with, and where
To be completed before launch: the legal entity behind this service, its registered address, and the state whose law governs these terms and where disputes are handled. Until those are filled in this page is incomplete.
